
The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Gabriel Olonisakin, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt General Tukur Buratai and Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar were in Maiduguri to fine tune the on-going Operation tagged “Operation Crack Down” in Sambiza Forest, the stronghold of Boko Haram terrorists.
Briefing journalists at the Theater Command headquarters shortly after the meeting, the CDS, General Olonisakin said they are in Maiduguri to review the ongoing operation on Sambiza which commenced 5 days ago.
He said the military through the operation Crack down are determined to wipe out Boko Haram terrorists in the North-east, adding that they are also determine to rescue, not only the Chibok girls, but any other persons under the hostage of the insurgents.
On the issue of land mines planted by the Boko Haram, CDS said “we have deployed many mine sweepers to the Sambiza forest and very soon with the determination of our troops we will wipe out Boko Haram in Sambiza and any other parts of our territories”.
He said the military and other stakeholders in the reconstruction and rehabilitation process are working hard to see that they restore civil authority and return back the displaced persons back to their communities.
