My desire remains to reposition state civil service into a model – Gov. Ugwuanyi

Governor of Enugu State Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has re-assured of his administration’s commitment to taking the state to the next level in terms of holistic and inclusive development in line with his campaign promises.

The governor noted that his utmost desire is to build a civil service that will not only be a model for its contemporaries but also one that will give the people of Enugu state a new lease of life in terms of quality and efficiency of service.

Governor Ugwuanyi in an address through his deputy, Hon. Mrs Cecilia Ezeilo, during the grand finale of the state 2015 civil service celebration at Michael Okpara Square, Enugu, noted that he would like to see a civil service where discipline, commitment, efficiency, transparency and altruism would reign supreme.

He noted that the government of Enugu State cannot do much without the corporation and participation of civil servants in the state, adding that issues affecting the welfare and comfort of civil servants are paramount to his government.

The governor enjoined Enugu State workers to join hands with government in bringing the state civil service to the proposed international standard.

In a remark, Mr Chidi Ezema commended the workers for the spirit of hard work and uncommon commitment to the ideals of excellence in service, urging them to sustain the tempo.

Mr Ezema also praised governor Ugwuanyi for the feats attained with a very short period in office, saying that Enugu state civil servants are in for better days.

Highlight of the event included the match past by various ministries in which the Office of the Secretary to the Enugu State Government took the first position; Office of the Head of Service emerged second while the ministry of Works and Infrastructure came third.

Awards were also given to the three best employees of the year. They are Sylvester Aniobi from Head of Service, Victoria Ogbonna from Civil Service Commission and Clara Ogugua from ministry of Environment.
