Nat’l Youth Games: Edo state to host South-South zonal elimination

Ahead of the 2024 National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta state, Edo state is hosting the South-South zonal elimination, scheduled to hold from Wednesday, August 28th to 1st of September,2024 in Benin.

According to the organizers, athletes are expected to feature in nine games in the South South zonal contest for teams towards qualifications for the 8th Edition of the National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta state, 2024

According to the Programme of events signed by Mrs A.P. Efe-Amenze, Director, Sports Development and Operations, Edo State Sports Commission, the events are spread across various facilities in Benin as the Handball event will be staged at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium.

Other schedules include: Hockey -St. Maria Gorretti College, Upper Sokponba Road; Beach Volleyball-Ihogbe College, ICE Road while Cricket -Boys and Girls hold at Edo Boys College and Iyoba College respectively.

The Football event is scheduled to hold at Western Boys College as Rugby takes place at Edo Boys College.

Volleyball, Basketball and Trado Sports -Abula events are staged at Wire Road and Etete Indoor Sports Hall respectively

The Director Sports Development and Operations, Edo State Sports Commission, Mrs. A.P. Efe-Amenze also urged participating teams from the South South zone of the federation to cooperate with the host Edo State Sports Commission in their quest for a successful hosting in Benin.
