The two monarchs who were dethroned for their subversive roles against the last government are: His Royal Highness, Eze Engr. Daniel Gbufor, from Ikwuano Local Council and His Royal Highness, Eze Nelson Nmerengwa.
The leaders of the state traditional council who paid a visit to the governor in government house, Umuahia, pleaded to the governor to show mercy to the two monarchs by reviewing the government dethronement order against them.
Speaking on behalf of the traditional council, the chairman, Eze Eberechi Dick, used the occasion to appeal to the governor to endeavour to address the issue of some promises made to the traditional council by the last administration which are yet to be fulfilled by government.
He further declared the determination of the council to give their unalloyed support for the government and administration of Governor Ikpeazu, saying the traditional institution is already impressed by the government’s moves to change the face of Aba.
Responding, the governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, said he was happy over the visit of the monarch and noted that the visit would amount to a blessing to his government.
He promised to look into the case of the dethroned monarchs with the view of reviewing the order against them but added that if they are eventually pardoned, they have to queue at the back and take the back seat as a lesson for their action.
The governor also promised to look into the general welfare of the traditional rulers whom he described as the fathers of the state.
