Court stops police from enforcing tinted glass permit policy
The High Court of Delta State has issued an ex-parte injunction stopping the Inspector General of Police and the Nigeria Police Force from resuming the enforcement of the tinted glass permit policy across the country.
The order was granted on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, by Justice Joe Egwu.
The court also barred the police from harassing, arresting, detaining or extorting motorists and other citizens over the tinted glass permit policy.
According to the court, the order will remain in force pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.
The injunction followed a lawsuit filed in Delta State by an applicant, Mr Israel Joe. He was represented by a team of lawyers led by Kunle Edun, SAN.
With this ruling, the planned resumption of the tinted glass permit enforcement by the Nigeria Police, earlier scheduled for January 2, 2026, has been halted.
