New Super Eagles Coach, Eric Chelle, visits players in Europe ahead of World Cup qualifiers (See pictures)

New Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle, has visited key Nigerian players in Europe ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The coach visited Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, and Moses Simon as he prepares for his first game in charge.

Chelle, who was appointed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) last month, aims to build a strong relationship with the team and ensure his tactical plans are well understood before the crucial matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.

The Super Eagles’ official social media pages confirmed the visits, sharing photos of Chelle and first assistant Hedi Taboubi meeting the players.

The post read: “Head coach Éric Chelle and first assistant Hedi Taboubi visited some Super Eagles players ahead of the crucial FIFA World Cup qualifiers. 🇳🇬🦅 #RoadToWorldCup2026 #SoarSuperEagles.”

Chelle began his tour in France, meeting Nantes winger, Moses Simon, before travelling to England to see Iwobi, who plays for Fulham, and Ndidi of Leicester City.

After his European trip, Chelle will return to Nigeria to finalise preparations with home-based Super Eagles players before announcing his squad for the qualifiers.

Nigeria is currently fifth in Group C of the African qualifiers, making the upcoming games vital for their chances of reaching the 2026 World Cup. Chelle is expected to visit more key players across Europe as he looks to strengthen the squad.

Only the group winners will qualify directly for the World Cup, so the Super Eagles must secure maximum points in their remaining matches to avoid missing out on back-to-back tournaments.
