Nigerian Academy of Letters holds empowerment workshop for creative writers; Calls for entries


The Creative Writers Empowerment Committee of the Nigerian Academy of Letters (NAL) has announced its 2024 Creative Writers Empowerment Workshop taking place at the University of Abuja and Mamman Vatsa’s Writers Village, Mpape, Abuja from Friday, March 1, to Thursday, March 7, 2024.
The Committee, which has Professor Olu Obafemi as Chair, Professor Akachi Ezeigbo as Co-Chair and Professor Sola Fosudo as Secretary, has also invited interested writers to submit creative works on any of the following genres – Drama, Poetry, Prose and Children’s Literature for assessment for the Workshop.
According to the Committee’s notice, all submissions must be original and unpublished, and must not be more than 10 pages for Poetry and 15 to 20 pages for Drama, Prose, and Children’s Literature.
Submissions, according to the notice, which stated that entries close on Thursday, February 15, 2024, must include the author’s name, phone number and e-mail address and should be sent as pdf to olusolafosudo@gmail.com, and copied to tojaide@gmail.com and ayerima55@gmail.com.
The Committee informed that participants whose submissions are shortlisted would be invited for the Capacity Building Workshop For Creative Writers.
NAL is committed to “building capacity for the nation’s creative economy.”
