US Rep. Oye Owolewa announces run for DC Council At-Large against Anita Bonds

Washington, DC

DC’s US Representative Dr. Oye Owolewa has announced that he is running against Anita Bonds for the Democratic nomination for DC Council At-Large.

Dr. Oye Owolewa, DC’s only elected pharmacist, is running on the values of fighting for DC’s middle and working class.

This announcement comes weeks after Rep Oye publicly announced his retirement from the House at the conclusion of his third term.

“I’m proud to announce that I’m running for DC Council At-Large” Rep Oye said, pointing out that “DC deserves a fighter for them and not billionaires. At a time when we face a housing crisis, healthcare cuts and nation high unemployment, DC residents deserve a Council Member who thinks of middle and working class needs first.

“If elected, I’ll work to restore DC Medicaid for the 25,000 working families, provide access to free college education for DC residents and recruit good paying careers back to DC to rehire federal workers. DC needs fresh blood on the Council and I’m excited to bring the youth, energy and action that DC sorely needs,” he stressed.
