Nigerian Defence Academy attacked by unknown gunmen; Two military personnel killed, one abducted

The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna, has confirmed attack by unknown gunmen on the foremost defence institution during which incident two personnel were killed while one was abducted by the attackers.

A statement by Major Bashir Muhd Jajira, Academy Public Relations Officer, titled SECURITY BREACH OF NIGERIAN DEFENCE ACADEMY ARCHITECTURE and dated Tuesday, August 24, 2021, said that “the security architecture” of the Academy “was compromised early this morning by unknown gunmen who gained access into the residential area within the Academy in Afaka. During the unfortunate incident, we lost two personnel and one was abducted.”

He said further that the Academy in collaboration with the 1 Division Nigerian Army and Air Training Command as well as other security agencies in Kaduna state have since commenced pursuit of the unknown gunmen within the general area with a view to tracking them down and rescuing the abducted personnel.

The NDA community and Cadets, he assured, “are safe in the Academy,” stressing that the “unknown gunmen would soon be apprehended and the abducted personnel rescued.”
