Nigerian footballers, Ola Aina, Victor Boniface, join new clubs

Ahead of the 2023/2024 season, Nigerian footballers Ola Aina and Victor Boniface on Saturday July 23, 2023 completed moves to new clubs.

Ola Aina joined English Premier League club Nottingham Forest as a free-agent and has penned a one-year contract with option for another year.

The 26-year old right back was a free-agent after leaving Italian Serie A side Torino at the end of the 2022/2023 season.

Aina, joins two other Nigerian Footballers, Taiwo Awoniyi and Emmanuel Dennis at the new club.

For Victor Boniface, it was a transfer from Belgian club Royale Union Saint Gilloloise to German Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

The German Bundesliga club managed by Xabi Alonso signed 22-year old Boniface to a 5-year contract, after what was a breakthrough 2022/2023 season for the Nigerian Footballer.

Boniface was named UEFA Europa League top-scorer last season and so attracted interest across Europe but it is Bayer Leverkusen who have won his signature.

Other Nigerian Footballers like Samuel Chukwueze, Calvin Bassey, Joe Aribo, Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi could still get new clubs amidst transfer links.
