Nigeria’s Victor Boniface gets Manager’s praise for perfect start

Nigerian striker, Victor Boniface, has received praise from Bayer Leverkusen manager, Xabi Alonso for his perfect start to life in the Bundesliga.

Boniface has scored nine times already for the club and was named Bundesliga Player of the Month and Rookie of the Month for August 2023.

As quoted by OmaSports, Xabi Alonso commented on the brilliance of the former Royale Union Saint Gilloloise forward, which has helped Bayer Leverkusen maintain an unbeaten streak in the Bundesliga. They currently sit second in the league, behind champions Bayern Munich.

Xabi Alonso has been really impressed with the 22-year-old’s performances since he arrived. The former Real Madrid man has stated that Die Werkself had their eyes set on the Super Eagles striker since last season.

“I already knew Boniface was a top player when Bayer Leverkusen played Royale Union SG in the Europa League last season,” Alonso said.

“He was a strong candidate for us. We are very satisfied with him. He has adapted himself very well to the team’s plan and the tempo of the Bundesliga.

“It is not easy; there are a lot of good central defenders to come up against, but he has the quality, he is strong.”

Aside from his prowess in front of goal. Boniface is very creative. He can take on players and has the eye for the pass. With how he has played so far, he has proven to be a gem for Bayer Leverkusen.
