
A busy round of matches took place in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Sunday, with several home teams celebrating important wins while some visitors fought hard to earn draws.
Ikorodu City began the day in fine form with a 2-0 victory over Tornadoes. Joseph Arumala was the hero, scoring from the penalty spot in the 33rd minute before adding a second goal late in the game.
Rangers and Abia Warriors could not be separated, as their match ended goalless. El Kanemi Warriors and Warri Wolves also shared points in another 0-0 draw.
Kun Khalifat continued their strong home run with a 2-0 win over Shooting Stars. James Ekebuike scored in the 24th minute, while Blessed Iyamu added the second goal just after the break. Kano Pillars also impressed at home, beating Remo Stars 1-0 thanks to Luis Dadong’s goal in the 57th minute.
Plateau United claimed a late 1-0 win over Kwara United, with Sadiq Yusuf scoring the winning goal in the 88th minute. Nasarawa United and Bayelsa United played out a 1-1 draw, as Victor John scored early for the hosts before Energy Otunuya equalised.
The most dramatic game of the day was in Bauchi, where Wikki Tourists and Katsina United played to a 3-3 draw. Katsina United had a player sent off, and the match was interrupted by crowd protests and poor visibility. The final minutes are set to be completed on Monday morning.
The results showed how competitive the NPFL remains, with teams battling hard for points as the season continues.
