NYSC Coordinator, driver kidnapped in Akwa Ibom

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced the kidnapping of its Akwa Ibom State Coordinator, Mr. Okun Christopher, and his driver, Mr. Daniel Effiong Asibong.
The incident occurred on Monday, July 29, 2024, while they were on official duties traveling to Uyo, the state capital.
According to a press statement signed by NYSC’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, all efforts to locate the missing officers have been unsuccessful. The duo was last seen in a white official Hilux vehicle with registration number 27D31 FG.
The NYSC is urging anyone with useful information to come forward and contact any of the 37 NYSC State Secretariats nationwide, Area Offices, the National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja, or the nearest police station or security agency.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety and security of NYSC officials and corps members. The authorities are working tirelessly to ensure the safe release of the kidnapped officers.
Meanwhile, another kidnap case was reported in Uyo on Sunday, August 5, 2024.
A final year female student of the University of Uyo was kidnapped in a tricycle along Ikpa road. According to family sources, Glory Oscar was taken to an unfamiliar location from where the kidnappers contacted and extracted ransom from her family before releasing her by 11pm, same day.
At the time of this report, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command is yet to release statement on the incident.
