Obasanjo, Sultan, Abdulsalami, Onaiyekan, others hold crucial Conference on Nigerian problems tomorrow

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo
Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and other eminent Nigerians will tomorrow, Thursday, June 10, 2021, gather in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, to discuss the way forward for the country.
The meeting, which will hold on the platform of the Committee for Goodness of Nigeria (CGN) will involve the Interfaith Initiatives for Peace jointly led by the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar and His Eminence John Cardinal Onaiyekan; the National Peace Committee chaired by General Abdulsalami Abubakar and the Socio-cultural Consultative Committee convened by Chief Obasanjo.
These bodies are coalescing under the CGN, according to a letter personally signed by Obasanjo and dated May 26,2021, for the “exploratory meeting on pressing issues of national unity, security, peace, integration, economic revitalization and development, women and youth welfare and general progress.”
The meeting is scheduled to take place at Transcorp Hilton Conference Centre, Abuja tomorrow, June 10, 2021 at 11:00am.
Chief Obasanjo has been a critic of the President Muhammadu Buhari government which he helped to bring to power in 2015.
Recently, he said the country, which God created to be flowing with milk and honey was now flowing with bitterness and sadness.
GPNews had reported recently that a proposed Conference by Obasanjo had rattled the Buhari government to the point of raising an outcry that some individuals were plotting to convene a Conference where a vote of no confidence would be passed on the present leadership of the country.
The country has been grappling with serious challenges, especially of insecurity and economic difficulties and it is not clear what position the Obasanjo Conference would take or what the government’s reaction to it would be.
