Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has restated his commitment to fulfilling promises made to party faithful as well as people of the state and to continue programmes that will lead to the rapid development of the state.
The governor made the assertion, Wednesday, when he visited Anambra West and Anaocha Local Government Areas to keep his promise to the people, in continuation of his ‘Thank You Tour’ to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) faithful across the twenty-one local government areas of the state.
Governor Obiano told the crowd at Umueze Anam that he came to thank party members at the Ward level for ensuring victory for APGA candidates during the last National and state Assembly elections. Also at Neni, Anaocha LGA, he told the mammoth crowd at St John’s Catholic Church field that “this is a home coming of sorts for APGA to its roots because APGA was formed in Anaocha, and it is important to report to you that your children has done well.”
According to him, “APGA has sustained a government of service delivery and development since it took the reins of power in Anambra state. We shall continue to advance development in the state and that is something our party should be proud of. I want to assure you that we will not relent in our pursuit of excellence.”
Governor Obiano reminded the cheering crowd to always remember that “the party is supreme and everyone should work in the interest of the party that is why we have come today for a party affair, to say thank you.”
In his remarks, Deputy Governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke, told the crowd that Governor Obiano deserved a commendation for his zeal and commitment to the development of Anambra State which he noted is unparalleled.
He observed that because of the standards the governor set since coming into office, people are already judging him like someone who has finished first term when he had spent merely 18 months in office.
According to the Deputy Governor, “how to know a great leader is not necessarily for the right decisions made but by how he manages the outcomes of the ones he didn’t get right. Governor Obiano has got it right on many fronts, that is why other governors are already copying his model in security of lives and property and even the economic blue print.”
He therefore urged Obiano to remain steadfast since his records four years down the line would confound critics and delight Ndi Anambra.
Also speaking, National Chairman, Dr. Victor Oye, told the people that “what the governor is doing today is unprecedented. His mandate is ordained by God who has ordered his path in service of our people. I have no doubt about his commitment and determination to deliver on promises. Already, his performance resonates across Nigeria and we are proud. He is a source of pride to us as a national leader of our party. What we are seeing is that he is doing well and when he is done, he will be given certificate of performance that would take him to the national level. APGA at the national level is happy at the progress and development the governor is bringing to Anambra and by the grace of God we will add another governor to the party very soon.”
Speaking in the same vein at Neni, the former National Chairman, Chief Sir Victor Umeh, agreed with governor Obiano that Anaocha is the home of APGA and praised the vision and commitment of the founding fathers.
Welcoming the governor, Chief Umeh stated, “I welcome you to my Local Government with humility and honor. I want to assure you that we will stay with you. We are assuring you that APGA won the election but we were thwarted by the forces that changed the results against the wish of the people. You are doing very well, rest assured that the light of APGA will never dim and we will continue to give you total support.”
Earlier, Anambra State Chairman of APGA, Sir Nobert Obi had called on the party faithful at Anambra West and Anaocha to call Governor Obiano Ekwueme, for being man of his words.
“We are happy that he kept his words to come back and thank you for making the party proud.” He also called on members at the state and Ward levels to stand firm in support of APGA and our Governor.
