Ojikutu receives prestigious World Leadership Merit Award in New York, USA, in March

The nomination of the former female elected Deputy Governor of Lagos, Nigeria, and advocate of good governance, Ayanke Alhaja Sinatu Aderoju Ojikutu, for the coveted World Leadership Merit Award (WOLMA) has been approved by the award committee.

The recognition is a testament to her unwavering commitment to equity, fairness, justice, probity, and accountability, the award committee said.

As a trailblazing politician and astute technocrat, Alhaja Ojikutu has consistently championed the cause of good governance, ensuring that public resources are utilized for the benefit of the people. Her tireless efforts to uplift the lives of the disadvantaged and oppressed have been remarkable, earning her a reputation as a passionate advocate for human rights and social justice.

The World Leadership Merit Award (WOLMA) is a prestigious honour that acknowledges exceptional leaders who have made significant contributions to their communities and the world at large and Alhaja Ojikutu’s nomination is a well-deserved recognition of her leadership, vision, and dedication to creating a more just and equitable society.

The award will be presented as part of the activities marking the forthcoming UNITED NATIONS WOMEN CSW69 ASSEMBLY in New York in March 2025. This global platform will provide an opportunity for Alhaja Ojikutu’s remarkable work to be recognized and celebrated by a wider audience.
