The pastor of the Household of God church, Rev Chris Okotie in an Easter message to Nigerians has urged his compatriots to work towards reviving the nation.
According to the pastor, the on-going fuel scarcity, power outage, severe economic crunch will continue unless Nigerians join hands with the federal government to drive its change agenda.
The federal government alone cannot change Nigeria for the better. True change is a function of the collective efforts of the people. Therefore, let us at this Easter period, reflect on how to use the celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, to change our attitude to governance.
“Nigerians know that the nation is in a dysfunctional state, but are largely detached from government’s effort to revive the nation. The lesson of Easter is that although Jesus died and resurrected to redeem a spiritually dead world, it is only those who have faith in the redemption order that will benefit from the gift of salvation. Therefore we must have faith in the change agenda, and participate in government plans to re-launch the nation as a viable, disciplined, productive economy, to engender the change we expect.
“We must jettison the propensity to criticize government and expect each initiative to fail. Such negative attitude is defeatist and unhelpful”. The Pastor pointed out that Easter is the most important event in human history because Jesus saved man from death and brought him back to life.
He, therefore, urged Nigerians to reflect on God’s abundant grace and embrace a new attitudinal change to governance. He said pastors and other church leaders should continue to mobilize the people for the fight against corruption because if the monster is not tamed and destroyed, Nigeria would not move forward.
Finally, Rev. Okotie urged restive youths across the country `to lay down their arms and stop being used by unpatriotic elements to perpetrate cult violence, and other criminal activities for pecuniary gains, according to the statement signed by the Pastor’s publicist, Ladi Ayodeji.
