The PYL, which comprises youths from the southwest chapter of the party, said in a statement in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday that the EPY should not be taken serious by well meaning Nigerians as it is merely a surrogate group used by Lere Olayinka, media aide to Governor Ayo Fayose, to blackmail and orchestrate his endless smear campaign against Dr Fayemi.
Signed by Barrister Adeoye Aribasoye, South west coordinator, the PYL in its statement said it would not have bothered to dignify the EPY’s allegations with a response but for the sake of innocent Nigerians who could be misled by the odious lies.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the allegation by EPY is just another lie from this dubious contraption known as EPY and a senseless spin from Lere Olayinka’s desk.
“We challenge the two faceless signatories to the EPY statement to come out to substantiate their claims and give details of the alleged N700million donation.
“No well meaning youth organisation from Ekiti or Ondo State would make such a wild allegation. It is not only reckless, it is malicious, senseless and of no substance.
“Regardless of the campaign of calumny from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Kayode Fayemi remains a true leader and a seasoned administrator worthy of emulation. His trajectory is well known to us as a man of character, committed party man and an activist in government. He does not believe nor engage in money politics, hence the lies about the N700 million donation does not add up.
“So, this allegation of N700million donation, is nothing but a concocted lie in the series of attacks coordinated from the Governor’s office in Ado-Ekiti.
“Like the previous lies, this one will also not pass the test of time as our people are increasingly seeing through the falsehood that is the thrust of the Fayose-led administration.
“The outcome of the September 3rd Ondo State governorship primary notwithstanding, the APC remains one united family that no lie nor distraction from the opposition can put asunder”, the group added.
