RCCG’s Pastor Adeboye prays for Nigeria at Special Holy Ghost Service; VP Osinbajo, Govs. Sanwo-Olu, Emmanuel, other attend

General Overseer (G.O) of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has prayed that it shall be well with Nigeria, the country of his birth and the headquarters of the worldwide Church that he Pastors.

Nigeria just had a Presidential and National Assembly election, the outcome of which is being disputed by the major parties and candidates that participated in the Presidential poll.

Pastor Adeboye, who turned 81 on Thursday, March 2, 2023, said the prayer for Nigeria on Friday night during the Special Holy Ghost Service of the Church taking place at the Redemption City, the headquarters of the Church on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The programme, which has as its theme, “The God of Breakthroughs,” started on March 2, 2023, and will end on March 5, 2023. It is being attended by a huge crowd of worshippers from all over the world with many others participating real-time via several online platforms.

Pastor Adeboye, who ministered with 2Kings 2:9-15 as his anchor scripture, said that people could have several breakthroughs on the same day, including physical, spiritual and material breakthroughs as was the case of Elisha. He also stated that breakthroughs could be received, among others, through by the mercy of the sovereign God, by force, through violent faith and through violent and persistent prayers.

The Cleric said there are also assisted breakthroughs, noting that breakthroughs come by the Word of God, either communicated directly from Him to us, or through angels or Pastors.

Without making direct reference to the outcome of the February 25, 2023, elections, the highly respected Cleric said, “O Nigeria! It shall be well with you.”

He had said severally during the run up to the polls that God had not told him that there would be elections in the country.

In between his ministration, he issued some decrees, prayed some prayers and relayed messages from God to the congregation.

For instance, he told the congregation that included Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Governors Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State and Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State that God was assuring somebody that “all those who want to arrest you, all those who want to slow you down, who want to put you in bondage, they shall be arrested.”

He also prayed that “all those mocking you, all those resisting your progress, you wouldn’t see them again,” alerting, however, that some of the mockers and obstacles to progress could be members of one’s family, stressing that there should not be any surprise when such people begin to drop out of sight.

Pastor Adeboye prayed that “those who ever plan to destroy your heritage, they will die before you,” and declared that “right now you are walking on troubled waters, God asked me to tell you He will hold your hands, you will not sink.”

He also said that God said, “the embargo is lifted,” that He will send serious destiny helpers and that He “will put the lions to sleep.” He equally amplified a message from the previous day’s exhortation that people should “keep digging,” and not stop after one breakthrough as after the water level, there is gold, after gold there is diamond and then oil.

The Cleric encouraged congregants to greet each other with handshakes and the charge to “keep digging,” praying that “very soon, whenever they want to describe you or your children, the word they will frequently use is excellent.”

He also prophesied that “very soon, a huge crowd will surround you and will be saying congratulations,” and narrated the story of one of his spiritual daughters who approached him for prayers as she was going for a visa interview at the American Embassy. The lady returned and told him she was denied the visa and he asked, why? after all they had prayed. The lady said it was because he did not say “so shall it be!!”

Because they had given the lady the window to appeal, they then prayed again and added “so shall it be.” When she went back to the same person who denied her the visa earlier with the same documents, the officer wondered why she was denied in the first place and issued her multiple visa!!

The Special Holy Ghost Service, which started in 1986, continues today, Saturday evening, with the Holy Communion and Anointing Service. The Thanksgiving Service that would round off the programme will hold on Sunday, March 5, 2023.
