The estate is about 10 minutes drive from the Victor Attah International Airport, sits on 171 hectares of land across Uruan and Ibesikpo Asutan local government areas of the state, and is designed to have around – the – clock broadband internet service through fibre optic cables, has a World Health Organisation (WHO) standard water supply and treatment plant, safe city security system, power sub-station, fire sub-station, police station and a school.

The luxury estate will also have a church, shopping mall, clinic, health center, civic center as well as central sewage and gas supply systems.

Performing the ground – breaking, Prof. Osinbajo said the estate would be “a nice little place where one can hide away.

“The Dakadda luxury estate is strategic, people across the country will want to come here, and when they come they will have decent accommodation to raise their children.

“The facilities here would meet the need of residents and meet their standard of what should be a home.”

He commended the Governor for embarking on a project of this magnitude.

The ground breaking ceremony was part of the activities lined up to mark the 34th anniversary of Akwa Ibom, which was created in 1987 by then Military Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida Rtd.

The VP used the occasion to congratulate the Governor and people of the State saying that the Governor has made “remarkable achievements in six years especially industrialisation”.

Earlier in his speech, Governor Udom Emmanuel said he was driven to embark on the project by the desire to meet the housing needs of foreign investors resident in the State pursuing their businesses.

According to him, “we are having pressure on accommodation due to the influx of foreigners who are looking for where to build houses.

“We had to create a new estate that will be friendly to all” saying that, 13 percent of the estate have already been sold out.

“As we are here, 13 percent of the estate has been sold out to non-indigenes. Everything that a luxury estate should have is here. The water here is WHO standard. The power supply will come from two sources; we are bringing in a gas turbine that will generate 15MW of electricity.”

Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Pastor Umo Eno said the many facilities provided in the estate like the internet Wifi would help the residents to tele-work, as well as provide smart living conditions for investors coming into the state.

He called on the real estate practitioners to take advantage of the opportunity as each plot in the estate is in the average of 2, 000 Sqm; a square meter he said is sold for N30, 000 while a plot of 2, 000 Sqm will be sold for N60 million.
