The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has said that what matters most in the state is good governance and better living conditions for the people, not party politics.
Speaking at the Town Square meeting in Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, held at QIC Central School, Ikot Akpankuk, the Governor stressed the need to focus on results, not political affiliation.
“What we want in Akwa Ibom is good governance, is that not so?” the Governor asked. Using an example, he said, “If you’re going to Lagos by air and Ibom Air has a technical issue, but Air Peace is ready and available, won’t you take Air Peace to meet your appointment?” This, he said, is the kind of practical thinking the state needs.
Governor Eno also expressed support for President Bola Tinubu and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, saying he has reasons for backing them, which he will share at the right time.
He called on the people to continue supporting his administration, assuring them that he is committed to fulfilling his campaign promises.
During the event, over 400 people were empowered with grants and support items. These included:
154 beneficiaries of the Traders Grant
116 beneficiaries of the Farmers Grant
Four entrepreneurs who received ₦5 million each under the MSME Grant
131 people who received equipment support
The Governor advised the beneficiaries to use the funds wisely and avoid risky schemes like ponzi investments.
He also explained the reason for the Town Square meeting: “We must meet with the people regularly. Not just during elections, but also during governance, to hear from you and tell you what we are doing and planning to do.”
