Annual Fasting and Prayer programme starts January 11, 2022

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye is raising an army of volunteer prayer warriors from all over the world to combat the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic sweeping across the world.

Pastor Adeboye, said during the Church’s January Holy Ghost Service with the theme “Fresh Air” that the situation has become such that something had to be done about getting a permanent solution to the pandemic.

He announced that he had asked for 1000 volunteers who would fast and pray for 72 hours against the pandemic but that as he was speaking on Friday, January 7, 2022 night, more than 16,000 persons had volunteered for the marathon spiritual warfare.

According to him, Coronavirus has given birth to children and grandchildren (the variants) and even great grandchildren that are said to be more serious than its forerunners, stressing that the situation could no longer be handled by casual prayers.

He said that where science has failed, God will not fail but that He will hearken unto the cry of His children, assuring that God will shake the heavens and the earth to bring, this time, a permanent solution to the pandemic.

During the first 24 days of the continuous fasting and prayers programme, the volunteers will be interceding for Nigeria, the second 24 hours will be for intercession for the world while the prayer focus for the last 24 hours will be communicated to the volunteers.

He also announced that more volunteers have a window of the next one week to enlist in the squad that would be crying to God concerning a permanent solution to the pandemic.

Ministering on the theme of the Holy Ghost Service, “Fresh Air” Pastor Adeboye spoke of all that the air of God can do for individuals and peoples, including how it took Prophet Samuel from being a servant to a kingmaker and eventually, a king remover; how it took Isrealites out of bondage through the Red Sea to freedom permanently; how it can cause dry bones to live again; how it can anoint, empower, deliver, re-energise and boost the people of God.

The Prayer Points he released are:

  1. Father, please breathe on me and make something significant out of my life (Breathe on me, don’t let me die ordinary)
  2. Father, let Your wind blow in my favor, so that my siege will be over permanently
  3. Father, breathe on me and restore to me, double fold, every blessing (every opportunity) that I might have lost
  4. Father, please breathe on me so I can be empowered to overflowing
  5. Father, breathe on me and give me a second chance, give me a second wind so I will never fail again
  6. Father, breathe on me, give me a booster of Your power that I might reach the top quickly and easily
  7. Father, breathe on me, keep the air fresh and never let Your fire go out in my life.

Pastor Adeboye also announced that the general New Year fasting and prayer programme of the Church will be for 50 days, starting on January 11, 2022 and would end on March 2, 2022.

He encouraged members to pray for their Pastors and their families and to pray for him and his own family at least one minute every day.

There were spectacular testimonies during the Service, glorious praise and worship sessions and fervent, prevailing prayers.

The next Holy Ghost Service will hold on February 4, 2022 and the theme of the Service is “Miracles.”
