Nigerian Sports Administrator and Vice President of the Africa Clubs Association, Nigeria’s Elder Paul Bassey has confirmed that the Kingdom of Morocco has won the bid to house the headquarters of the Africa Clubs Association (ACA).
Three countries, South Africa, Morocco and Algeria had bid for the right to host the headquarters of the one year old continental body.
Morocco and Algeria extended invitations to the ACA board to come and inspect facilities. At the board meeting of ACA held last Friday, Morocco got the unanimous nod.
Elder Bassey confirmed the development saying “After comparing the bids before us, we were unanimous that Morocco will give us a better deal due to quality infrastructure and the projection of football development in the continent in the next fifty years”.
He went further to say that ACA will share offices in Rabat in the vicinity of CAF and FIFA offices and this was a major plus given the position Morocco is occupying in the development of World Football.
Following the Board Meeting on Friday, January 17, 2025, ACA dispatched a letter to the Morocco Football Association President, Mr. Fouzi Lekjaa, congratulating them for winning the bid to house ACA.
With this development, board members of ACA will be in Morocco this weekend to formally sign the MOU and fine tune the agreement.
The visit coincides with the draw of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 to be held on January 27 in Rabat and this will afford the ACA executive the opportunity of discussing club related issues with FIFA, CAF and National Association officials that will be present.
