The Public Complaints Commission (PCC), has organised a training programme for its staff in Sokoto State on effective leadership and team management skills.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the five-day programme has the theme: “Leadership and Team Management”.

The commission’s state Director, Mr. Samaila Haruna, in his opening address on Tuesday, said the training was aimed at enhancing staff members’ service delivery to the public.

He said the commission was established to address complaints from either aggrieved citizens or residents in Nigeria against administrative injustices.

According to him, the theme of the  training is apt and timely, considering the need for the commission’s staff to handle issues more effectively and civilly.

He said: “PCC acts as an Ombudsman, receiving complaints from citizens against government or private organisations or their officials, and intervening to resolve issues.

“I am confident that by the end of this training session, we will better understand our collective responsibilities in promoting social justice for individual citizens.

“This will also provide an avenue for impartial investigations on behalf of complainants who feel wronged by the actions or inactions of any institution or organisation,” he said.

The Director urged the officials to leverage the training to ensure proper service delivery, and also enhance the commission’s image.

The opening session featured paper presentations with topics such as ‘Ethics and Professional Conduct in the Civil Service’ and ‘Financial Regulations and Management,’ among others.
