PDP Governors meet, lambast decampee colleagues
Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state has condemned some of his former colleagues for decamping to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Tambuwal said this during a dinner organized for the forum by the Bauchi state government. He then accused the decampee governors of running to the All Progressives Congress (APC ) in order to have their sins forgiven.
He noted that they can never be intimidated into joining the APC that has woefully failed Nigerians in its entire six years of being in power.
Governor Tambuwal, who was represented by his Taraba state counterpart, Ishaku Darius Dickson, said that the APC which pledged to end Boko Haram insurgency within six months of inception has failed to do so in six years.
According to him, “those who are running and leaving PDP to where their sins are forgiven. So if you are a bad and corrupt man you come over to APC where your sins are forgiven. We do not believe and agree in intimidation, we will remain in PDP, we will capture power, and we will change Nigeria, we will improve Nigeria,” he assured.
“Those who said they were going to conquer, remove Boko Haram in six months, six years now they are still there, they cannot do it, it is getting worse, it is now several Bokos not one Boko Haram. It’s herdsmen Boko Haram, it’s everything, everything is happening”.
He then assured Nigerians that they (PDP) are coming back to power in 2023 in order to salvage the country from the daunting challenges bedeviling the citizens.
“We will come and remove and make Nigeria what it should be, the pride of Africa. Nigeria is a big and beautiful country, very colourful, you can see the beautiful dances that pass through here, imagine if those things were happening when we are in absolute peace”, Tambuwal noted.
“I assure you we will do that again, give us the mandate, we are coming back in 2023 and we assure you, this time for reason, that in six months we will change the terrain, we will change the narrative, we will make Nigerians happy”, he reiterated.
Governor Dickson who said he was standing in for the PDP forum’s chairman, Tambuwal because rainstorm prevented him and Governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki from landing in Bauchi while they were approaching the airport, said some of them were lucky to have arrived the state 20 minutes before the rainstorm.
“We have no hope but except in PDP, we will live in PDP, we will salvage whatever the country is left with when we regain power in 2023. If you look around, all the PDP states are the states where there is work ongoing, and I am sure I am speaking the minds of majority of Nigerians.
While thanking Governor Bala Mohammed and the good people of Bauchi for hosting them, Tambuwal said they will hold their deliberations today, Monday, adding that their meetings are being rotated from state to state.
Also present at the dinner were the Governor Diri of Bayelsa state, deputy Governor of Zamfara state and many top government functionaries.
