The Body of Federal Permanent Secretaries and Civil Servants, the umbrella association of public servants, has donated relief materials worth millions of Naira to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Borno state, to cushion their hardship.
Presenting the Material to the Borno state Government, Alhaji Waziri Laminu, a director in the Ministry of Youth Development said the items was purchased from the N55 million relished from the Federal Public servants by a committee set up by the Head of Service to assist the IDPs.
He said “the Committee purchased medicines worth N45 million and other materials worth N10 million which we are witnessing the distribution this morning in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
Alhaji Waziri said the items is their token contribution in cushioning the sufferings of the IDPs, adding the items includes medicines, soaps, Food items, Clothing Materials, sporting materials, as well as bottled water.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Borno state government, the state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Usman Maman Durkwa thanked the Federal Civil Service for the concern, assuring that the items donated will be judiciously distributed to the IDPs.
The Deputy Governor also called on Nigerians and IDPs in particular to continue praying for the end of Insurgency in the North-east and the Nation in general.
