Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the February 25, 2023, election, Mr. Peter Obi, was with the family of late political leader, Chief Annie Okonkwo, at the Saint Paul the Apostle Church in Los Angeles, California, United States of America (USA) to pay his respects to the late Senator.
Mr. Obi, former Governor of Anambra State, said in a tweet celebrating the late political chieftain, that:
“While he was alive, Sen. Annie Okonkwo was a highly successful entrepreneur who created successful businesses and employed thousands of Nigerians. He was a committed Nigerian who cared for human development. He also made great impacts in politics where he contributed greatly to societal development. In the last election, his contribution to our journey to a New Nigeria was indispensable and immeasurable. His invaluable advice and support throughout our campaign period contributed greatly to the success we recorded.
“His passing is shocking, sobering and a stark reminder of our collective mortality. What we are now, he once was. What he is now we shall all become. What counts is our good deeds by which we will be remembered.
“My prayer is that God Almighty who it pleased to call him home at this time will grant him eternal rest, and grant his family, and all of us the fortitude to bear his irreplaceable loss. -PO.”
