Police arrest two suspected human traffickers in Bayelsa State

The Bayelsa State Police Command has arrested two  suspected notorious human traffickers in the state.

The command gave the names of the suspects as Erica Wolo’ female 24 years and Patrick John male’ 19 years. They were arrested for their alleged involvement in trafficking one Ebitari Godfrey ‘female’ 20 years and one Lucy Samuel ‘f’emale 19 years both of Ekowe Community in Southern Ijaw LGA, Bayelsa State to Burkina Faso.

The command in a statement by its Police Public Relations Officer, Asinim Butswat, Deputy Superintendent of Police DSP, said the suspects were arrested on 11 July, 2017,when one Edna Hezron ‘female’ 35 years, reported a case of abduction against Erica Wolo ‘female’ 24 years of Agudama Epie, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

Police said its team consequently, swung into action and arrested the suspects,Erica Wolo and Patrick John, who took Lucy Samuel and Ebitari Godfrey to one Madam Beauty surname unknown in Lagos, who trafficked the victims to Burkina Faso.

Ebitari Godfrey had escaped from her captors at Burkina Faso to the Nigerian Embassy and was repatriated to Nigeria.

Investigation is on going to arrest Madam Beauty and to repatriate the other victim Lucy Samuel who had also escaped from her captors.
