Police nabs woman for trafficking 14 children

Sokoto state Police Command has arrested a middle-age woman, Luba Tukur for alleged trafficking of 14 female children. Some of the victims were said to be indigenes of Zamfara state.

The suspect, who resides at Makera Assada area of Sokoto, was said to have kept the children who are of between 7 to 15 years old in her house for trafficking and child labour for over one year.

The children were paraded before newsmen at the Police headquarters, Sokoto.

Disclosing this, the state Commissioner of Police Murtala Usman Mani said the 14 children were rescued by the Police in Sokoto following an intelligence information adding that investigation was still in progress on the matter.

Mani also told journalists that two persons Umar Abubakar and Ibrahim Abubakar Bello were in Police custody for alleged robbery of a petrol filling station of N2.7 million.

According to the Commissioner, during Police investigation, it was revealed that Umar Abubakar allegedly conspired with Ibrahim Abubakar Bello to commit the offence.

One of the suspects was said to have monitored the movement of the sales at the filling station. Thereafter, the two suspects struck and stole the money being sales for the day.

The Commissioner of Police said both suspects would soon be charged to Court.

The Commissioner also disclosed that his command has arrested two persons for alleged stealing of a Toyota Corolla car with fake registration number. The Police suspected the car was stolen in Kaduna. The two were nabbed while negotiating to sell the car in Sokoto state.
