Activist demands urgent action as Anglican Cleric, wife remain in captivity in Kaduna

The couple, originally from Umuaja in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State, were abducted in Kaduna on 28 October 2025. They have remained in captivity for nearly a month.
According to Gwamnishu, the kidnappers are demanding a ransom of ₦600 million for their release. He noted that a picture reportedly released by the abductors shows other victims being held, suggesting that the incident is part of a wider trend of rising insecurity.
In a statement on Wednesday, Gwamnishu, the Safe City Foundation founder described the situation as deeply troubling and urged the Kaduna State Government, the Federal Government and security operatives to take immediate action.
“This is unacceptable,” he said. “Every day these victims remain in captivity brings more pain and fear to their families and communities. The government must move quickly to secure their safe release.”
Gwamnishu stressed that the case highlights the increasing threat of kidnapping across the country and warned that urgent security measures are needed to prevent further incidents.
