The coaster bus conveying the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, his host Governor Kashim Shettima and their aides broke down during his one day visit to Maiduguri where he commissioned projects executed by the outgoing government of Governor Shettima.
The white coaster bus conveying Governor Shettima and Prof. Osinbajo broke down at the Gaji Galtimari Housing Estate, Maiduguri, during the commissioning of the estate. He was also scheduled to commission the nearby Nur Alkali Model School but he couldn’t do so as when they brought a new bus he headed straight to the Shehu of Borno’s palace.
At the time the bus broke down, the Vice President was not inside the vehicle. He was out of the vehicle commissioning the estate and on return, the Vice President saw the security operatives pushing the bus.
The cause of the vehicle’s breakdown could not be immediately ascertained but the bus was seen being pushed by the security operatives. They had to bring another vehicle for the Vice President.
Also during the visit, the operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS) tried to prevent Journalists from gaining entrance into the Shehu’s Palace. They even threatened to deal with one of the female reporters of one of the prominent National Television stations.
It took the Vice President and Governor Shettima to call the security operatives to order, before they allowed the journalists access to the palace.
