President, UN General Assembly convenes meeting over veto cast on Middle East situation

The President of the UN General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Dennis Francis, will convene a plenary meeting of the General Assembly (GA), under agenda item 63, entitled “Use of the veto” following a veto cast in the Security Council on 20 February 2024.

The veto was cast by one permanent member during the 9552nd meeting of the Security Council under the agenda item entitled “The situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question”.

Monica Grayley, Spokesperson for the President of the UN General Assembly, Mr. Dennis Francis, said that “in a letter sent to Member States, on 23 February, Mr. Francis informed that the meeting will take place on 4 March 2024 at 10 a.m. (New York time) in the General Assembly Hall.”
