Ahead of the primaries of the Labour Party (LP) for the governorship election in Imo State, the Presidential Candidate of the party in the February 25, 2023, poll, Mr. Peter Obi and the National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure, have met with Stakeholders and Governorship aspirants from the state.
The governorship election for Imo state will take place on November 11, 2023, and already several aspirants, on the platform of the LP, have indicated interest in contesting the number one office in the state against the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), among other parties.
Primaries for the election of the Labour Party’s candidate for the November poll will be held on April 10, 2023, and the stage is already being set for the exercise which is expected to be keen, given the pedigree of the aspirants.
In a tweet announcing the meeting, Mr. Obi said: “I’m gratified that Barr. Julius Abure, National Chairman of Labour Party and I were able to meet with the Imo State LP Stakeholders and the Governorship Aspirants in an interactive meeting on the way forward in Imo State.
“Much grounds remain to be covered ahead of the 10th April Primaries. It is reassuring that the participants agreed to remain constructively engaged, and also work collectively towards a seamless and hitch free Primaries. -PO.”
