Primary healthcare centers to be ICT compliant in Edo

The Edo state government is to equip every one of the eighteen primary healthcare centres across the state with relevant  lnformation Communication Technology (ICT) facilities.

One of the objectives of the plan is to fast track healthcare delivery and  enable medical experts document vital data for proper records of patients and their case history.

Governor Godwin 0baseki who stated this in Benin City said another objective is to strengthen primary healthcare system in the state.
The occasion was the NMA Edo state chapter Annual General Meeting/Scientific Conference, 2018, which had as theme, “Effective Healthcare Delivery in Edo state”.
The governor said all over the world primary healthcare system is the bedrock of viable healthcare delivery hence Edo recently set up a committee to first resolve primary healthcare issues before delving into secondary healthcare system.

Edo state boss of NMA, Dr. Emmanuel 0saigbovo, at the event said the State Officers Committee, and indeed the entire doctors in Edo state are committed to developing the healthcare delivery system in the State.

He, however, said there is the need for government to train and retrain medical personnel on a regular basis as well as providing for them a conducive environment to carry out their work.

He said all the doctors were ready to work with government at all levels to make citizens have quicker access to medical treatment.

“” The annual general meeting is a period of critical appraisal of the activities of the association for the past one year. This, in line to elect new set of leadership to run the body for another two years”.

He said,” It is a period for doctors to come together, their employers, their patients and of course the communities, where they practice.”

Commenting on their gains in office, he said ” the employment of more healthcare professionals, training and retraining of medical personnel and the modernization of the present facilities available in our hospitals, were some “.
