Bayelsa Police Command nabs notorious cult leader, 16 armed robbers; 3rd year varsity student

In a bid to sanitize the Bayelsa State Capital from cultism and other forms of criminalities, the State Police Command has arrested a notorious leader of Green Lander cult group, Precious Joseph and 16 suspected armed robbers across the state.
The Command also arrested a Third Year student of Niger Delta University NDU, Amasoma, one Isaac Harry for hiring guns to cultists and criminals to perpetrate crimes in Yenagoa.
Parading the 17 suspects, amongst them seven cultists and 11 armed robbers, Commissioner of Police, Asuquo Amba said the suspects specialized in robbing innocent persons, stealing handsets, intimidating passersby and breaking homes.
Amba said, the command was able to achieve the arrest of the suspects following the renewed crime fighting strategy put in place by his gallant men across the state.
“We have intensified patrols and surveillance, members of the public are more willing to volunteer useful information, due to our community policing approach. This approach has paid off with the arrest of armed robbers, recovery of fire arms, recovery of cars and arrest of suspected cultists,” Amba said.
He noted that following the intensified security measures put in place, his Special Anti Robbery Squad Detectives have curbed kidnapping in the state, describing cultism as a serious crime in the state.
Hear him, “we have tackled kidnapping in the state, it is cultism that is now a serious crime in the state. Cultists are criminals because they carry guns, steal and kill innocent persons in their operations.”
On cultism, the commissioner said Green Lander cult group is a criminal outfit because they are not registered.
The command also arrested a notorious cult leader, Green lander secret cult group from Sagbama community, Peremobowei Eyitimbia for terrorizing the community and recovered two live ammunitions and a locally made pistol.
The CP warned parents to advise their wards and children to desist from any form of crime, including cultism and armed robbery, saying the law would go hard on any person or group of persons caught in the act.
The command gave the names of the arrested suspects as Precious Joseph, Innocent Chidoka, Konbor Sideakemi, Nwobiara Kenneth Chinedu, Ese Jacob, Endurance Dede, Ovieni Johnson and Boboye Francis, saying that the suspects are aged between 20 and 22 years old.
Police listed items recovered from the suspects as one generator set, seven locally made pistols, handbags, and daggers.
The suspects, Amba said would be charged to court and diligently prosecuted.
