Ahead of the January 9, 2016 supplementary governorship election in Southern Ijaw, the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, Chief Timipre Sylva, has described Governor Henry Seriake Dickson as the author of political
violence in the state.

Chief Sylva, who addressed a world press conference in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, said he has evidence to back up his claim, stressing that he, on the other hand, is a man of peace.
The press conference was organized by the APC to deny allegations made by Governor Dickson during his world press conference, with Sylva insisting that he did not hire any armed men to rig elections as alleged by Dickson.

Accompanied by APC state Chairman, Chief Tiwei Oruninghe, his running mate, Elder Wilberforce Igiri and other top party officials, Sylva alleged that Dickson procured the cancellation of the Southern Ijaw election.

He described himself as an author of peace in the Niger Delta and the mastermind of the amnesty program insisting that he had never participated in any act of violence in the region.

According to him, “only Dickson knows about the violence he is talking about. It is the PDP that masterminded the violence in the last elections in the state and not APC.”

He alleged further that “PDP is plotting to disrupt the supplementary election slated for Southern Ijaw on January 9th, 2016 and unleash violence and terror on the people.”
