Pastor Adeboye renames RCCG Apapa Family

The Apapa Family of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has been renamed The Favoured Family by the General Overseer (G.O) of the Church, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, by the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Pastor Adeboye, who unveiled the new name for the Family on Sunday, March 30 during his “Second Visit” to Trinity Towers, City of David Parish, the headquarters of the Family, in Victoria Island Lagos, said that God directed him to cut short his trip to Europe to visit the Family and rename it.
He recounted the history and exploits of the Family which have endeared it to him over the years and noted that the Family was no longer exactly what it used to be in the past, but prayed, using 2 Kings 2:19-24 as text of his exhortation, that there will be healing and a new lease for the influential Family.
The Cleric also announced that the 14-floor Trinity Towers, Headquarters of the Family, which he said was as at his first visit, not the property of the Church as the Family was heavily indebted to a bank, had become, as he was speaking, totally the property of the Church, as the debt had been entirely paid off.
The G.O, who was at the Service with his wife, Pastor (Mrs.) Folu Adeboye, spoke on the significance of the new cruse and salt that Prophet Elisha demanded of the people of the City of Jericho with which he healed their waters.
The service, which was attended by a capacity crowd of joyful worshippers was also graced by the current and past top leadership of the Church.
Started by Pastor Tony Rapu in 1991 at Roxy Cinema, Apapa, Lagos with a handful of members, the Family grew rapidly and has given birth to parishes, Provinces, Regions and Continents all over the world.
After Pastor Rapu, Pastor Eskor Mfon led the Family, and at his passing, Pastor Idowu Iluyomade took over and was in charge of the Family till his recent exit.
