
Senate President, Bukola Saraki, announced, Wednesday, that the house has confirmed 18 ministerial nominees after two days of screening.
The Senate on Tuesday screened 10 of the nominees while eight took turns, Wednesday to field questions from the Senators after which they were all confirmed.
The exercise is expected to be a heated one as former governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and Adebayo Shittu take the stand to be screened. Amaechi has two petitions against his candidacy pending.
So far, those confirmed are Babatunde Raji Fashola, Lai Mohammed, Chris Ngige, Abubakar Malami, Audu Ogbe, Aisha Alhassan, Udoma Udo Udoma, Ibrahim Jubril and Lt Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau.
Others are Kayode Fayemi, Ogbonna Onu, and Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, Solomon Dalong, Emmanuel Kachikwu, Suleiman Adamu, Amina Mohammed and Hadi Sirikia and Dr. Osagie Ehanire.
Mr. Fashola fielded questions covering his activities when he held sway as Lagos State Governor, apologizing once again, to those he may have offended as a result of his decision (s) then, just as NNPC Group Managing Director, Emmanuel Kachikwu impressed the house with his knowledge of the oil and gas sector.
It will be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari , last Tuesday, sent the second batch of nominees in a list comprising 16 ministerial nominees. The first batch of 21 nominees was sent to the Senate, September 30.
The screening exercise began last Tuesday.
