Senate President, Saraki, makes statement to Police on Offa armed robbery case

Dr. Bukola Saraki, Senate President

Nigeria’s Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has, Thursday, July 26, 2018 made a cautionary statement to the Police Investigation Team investigating the Offa, Kwara State bank robbery that occurred on April 5, 2018.

According to a statement by Ag. DCP Jimoh Moshood, Force Public Relations Officer, Dr. Saraki made the statement on Police Form D19 (Statement of Accused Form).

According to him, investigation into the matter is in progress.

It will be recalled that the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, had invited Dr. Saraki to appear last Tuesday in connection with the bloody robbery case.  Some of those arrested  in connection with the robbery had reportedly alleged that they were political thugs of the Senate President.

The Police is insisting that the Senate President has questions to answer regarding the matter, but Dr. Saraki said in a statement on Monday evening that the invitation, which coincided with the date and time that some of his supporters in the Senate had intended to decamp from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, was politically motivated.
