The Gov. of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, has secured World Bank approval and sponsorship for the construction of four major Erosion sites in Anambra State. The design of the erosion sites was approved by the World Bank considering the imminent danger the sites will pose as the rainy season begins in earnest.

The approved sites are Ugamuma erosion site in Ugamuma, Obosi; Ikenga erosion site in Ikenga, Ogidi; the erosion site at Enugwu-Ukwu and the one at Abidi in Umuoji.

The Governor’s Special Assistant on NEWMAP, Engr Anatago Ivenso, further disclosed that two additional Sites, Nnewi and Nkpor, are expected to be approved later in June as the paper works and other necessary approval conditions have been met.

Engr. Ivenso mentioned that his team is working very hard to follow up on the Governor’s contacts with the World Bank and the responsible Federal Ministry to expedite the procurement processes so that work will commence on the sites as soon as possible.
