Vice President of Nigeria, Senator Shettima Kashim, has arrived Havana, Cuba, for a 3-day official visit, during which he will attend the G77 plus China Summit for Heads of State.
He will, while in Cuba, also hold bilateral meetings, according to a statement by the Nigerian Embassy in Cuba.
Vice President Shettima, who arrived at the Jose Matin International Airport, Havana, at about 9am on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 is accompanied by senior government officials, including Hon. Ministers of Agric, Science and Technology, and presidential aides. He was received by the Nigeria Ambassador Benaoyagha Okoyen, along with ambassador Adamu Ibrahim Lamuwa, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and top Cuba Government officials.
While in Cuba, the Nigerian Vice president will participate in the G77+ Summit, which is scheduled to hold on Friday and Saturday, 15 and 16 September 2023 respectively. Also, on the sideline of the summit, he will attend several high-level meetings and engagements with other world leaders and top business executives.
The Vice President would use the time in Cuba, through the various meetings and engagements, to deepen bilateral relations between both countries especially in the health sector. The vice president will also meet with the Nigerian community in Cuba, particularly Nigerian students.
