Former Sokoto state Commissioner for Religious Affairs and Rural Development, Alhaji Maishinko Katemi, has clinched the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ticket to contest the Silami/Binji House of Representatives seat.
Katemi, who was being seen as the most popular person in the constituency to win the seat from the All Progressives Congress, APC, was earlier cleared by the party as the sole candidate.
The party primary was held at a crowded ground in Binji, the headquarters of Binji local government area where delegates formally affirmed Katemi as the party’s flag bearer.
The party chairmen of Silami and Binji local government areas as well as the Party’s representatives from Abuja jointly raised the hands of the candidate as a sign of victory and endorsement by the delegates.
Katemi, who was also former chairman of Silami Local government council, in his address to the delegates urged them to be steadfast as the seat would return to PDP.
He further urged them to continue to support Governor Tambuwal and former governor Bafarawa who are poised for the development of the state in particular and the country in general.
