As part of activities to mark the first year anniversary of the coronation of the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, top Golfers from across the world are already converging on the renowned ancient town for a memorable international Golf Tournament.
Oba Olaoye, Orumogege III, was presented with the staff and instrument of office as the Soun (King) of Ogbomosoland on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at a spectacular coronation ceremony with dignitaries from all over the world in attendance.
The 2nd Oba Ghandi Golf Tournament, holding from tomorrow, Thursday, December 19 to Saturday, December 21, 2024 will be one of the high points of the Soun’s celebration of the first anniversary of his historic ascension to the throne of his forefathers.
Taking place at the Ogbomoso Recreation Club Golf Course, a notice, by Olujimi Raphael Olaitan, the Competition’s Secretary, noted that many distinguished Golfers from across Nigeria and beyond have lined up to compete for honors at the Tournament that is expected to be colorful and memorable.
The inaugural Tournament took place last year as part of the events that ushered Oba Olaoye into office and since then, the Tournament has grown in stature and international recognition, attracting renowned Golfers from around the country and beyond.
Other activities are also lined up to celebrate the ascension of the foremost traditional ruler who came from being a very Senior Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), who was then based in the United States of America (USA) to the throne of his forebears.
The Oba Ghandi Golf Tournament is expected to grow into a major global Golf Tournament, attracting the best Golfers from across the world in a short time, given the interest it is already generating in golfing circles.
From tomorrow, all roads will lead to the Golf Section of the Ogbomoso Recreation Club, where the Tournament will hold in honour of Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye.
