Strike: Gov. Shettima asks health workers to resume work

Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state has appealed to the members of medical and health workers union in the state to consider the peculiar health challenges in the state as a result of on going insurgency and resume work.

Governor Shettima who made the appeal when he paid a visit to the Muhhamadu Shuwa Memorial Hospital, Maiduguri to find out   how patients on admission were faring said the state government has cordial relationship with  nurses and other health workers.

He, therefore, called on the nurses and other health workers to impress on their members to suspend the ongoing strike and resume work due to the peculiar situation of insurgency.
Briefing Governor Shettima on arrival, the Acting, Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr.Abba Gumsuri said that as a result of the strike action embarked upon by the Nurses, the state commissioner of Health and CMD Hospital Management Board brought some final year students of the School of Nursing and Midwifery to provide basic services.
The strike by the joint health workers association has paralysed activities in the Hospitals in the state as the health workers in the state joined the strike action in solidarity with the national body.
