Super Eagles vs Athletico Madrid FC of Spain international friendly: Police deploys 424; Assures of tight security

The Akwa Ibom Police Command has reassured football lovers that they are working in concert with other stakeholders to ensure adequate security for the international friendly between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Atletico Madrid FC of Spain, scheduled to hold on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, by 6pm at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

A statement by DSP Odiko MacDon, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Command said in full:

This is to inform the general public that the Akwa Ibom State Police Command in collaboration with Sister security agencies and stakeholders in Sports Administration are working assiduously to facilitate adequate security in accordance with international Standard to ensure a hitch free International friendly match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Atletico Madrid Fc of Spain, scheduled to hold on Tuesday 22nd May, 2018, by 6pm at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

The Command is determined to ensure that soccer loving Nigerians and visitors enjoy the football match in a peaceful atmosphere devoid of infractions. Hence, the Commissioner of Police, CP Adeyemi Ogunjemiluisi mni, has directed the deployment of four hundred and twenty-four (424) Policemen to provide top notch security before, during and after the football match.

The Commissioner of Police enjoins all soccer loving fans visiting the Nest of Champions and the State to conduct themselves in an orderly and hospitable manner during the period and after as the Command will not hesitate to deal decisively with miscreants and hooligans who may want to take undue advantage of the existing peace and security in Akwa Ibom State.
