A banker with one of the old generation banks located on Airport Road is currently answering questions at the State Command of the Nigeria Police in Benin over allegations of duping a customer of money running into millions of naira.
The suspect, simply identified as Gloria, was said to have lured her victim whose husband incidentally is the Special Adviser on Security to Governor Adams Oshiomhole to lodge about fifteen million naira as deposit.
It all began when the said Gloria, an account officer with the bank and a family confidant to Mrs Mikano Kadiri advised her to lodge the said amount into a fixed deposit account where she can enjoy some profit on a monthly basis.
She also confirmed to Mrs Kadiri that on request the money can be withdrawn.
Trouble, however, started when Mrs Kadiri requested to have access to the money and she was told that the money had been lent to the bank’s cooperative.
This however did not go down well with the family after about three months of trying to gain access to the money.
On investigation, it was discovered that the bank does not run a cooperative society and the money could not be traced.
Sensing danger, it was learnt that the said Glory wrote a letter of resignation to the bank which was later revealed to the victim.
