The Igwe in Council and the Greater Iloeje Dynasty of Uwani Amokwe, Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, Nigeria have sent out special invitations for The Last Ofala of His Royal Highness Igwe Nwadilibe Paul Iloeje, Chinenyeze 1 of Uwani Amokwe.
The program of The Last Ofala of Igwe Iloeje, an exemplary leader, a scholar of high repute, a philanthropist of note, an acclaimed mentor and dedicated family man, aged 89 (1931 – 2020), starts with Christian Wake on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at the Igwe’s Palace, Uwani Amokwe at 4:00 PM.
On Friday, April 9, 2021, an Ofala Mass would hold at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Uwani Amokwe by 10:00 AM while the Ofala/Funeral Ceremonies will follow immediately at South West Primary School, Uwani Amokwe, Udi L.G.A of Enugu State.
Igwe Iloeje’s two books, A New Geography of Nigeria (1965) and A New Geography of West Africa (1972), both published by Longmans Nigeria Limited, more than his 20 or more other books secured him a niche as a celebrated and widely read author.
Survived by his wife, six children, eleven grandchildren, six siblings and many others, the Patriarch of the Greater Iloeje Dynasty is being mourned across the world.
Top government functionaries, political and business chiefs, traditional leaders and other dignitaries from far and near are expected to grace this last Ofala in honour of the revered Igwe N. P. Iloeje.
