Tinubu, Atiku mourn Amaechi’s late mother
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi, the beloved mother of Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, the former Governor of Rivers State and former Minister of Transportation.
A statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy), said that Ezinne Mary Oduah Ameachi died at the age of 89.
“President Tinubu acknowledges the deceased’s commitment to the Catholic faith, her exemplary devotion to family values, and her dedication to raising children of service,” the statement said, stressing that the President also noted “that the late matriarch’s life reflected the virtues of love, sacrifice, kindness, and perseverance, qualities that endeared her to all who came in contact with her.
“President Tinubu urges the bereaved family to take solace in the remarkable legacy of faith, dignity, and service that Dame Mary Amaechi bequeathed to her children, the Church, and society.
“My heartfelt condolences to Rt. Hon. Amaechi, the entire Amaechi family, the Catholic faithful, and the government and people of Rivers State over the loss of Dame Ezinne Amaechi, a champion of faith whose life was marked by humility and selfless service to humanity.
“May Almighty God grant her soul eternal rest and comfort all who mourn her passing at this difficult time”, the President said.
In his message of condolence, the Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar joined the family, friends, and associates of Chief Amaechi, the vice-presidential candidate of the ADC, in mourning the passing of Mrs. Mary Amaechi.
Alhaji Abubakar acknowledged the exemplary Christian life the departed matriarch lived, which was marked by devotion to God, faithful worship, and selfless service to her community, noting that she was a mother to all who crossed her path, and that Nigeria remains deeply indebted to her memory for raising Chief Rotimi Amaechi, one of the nation’s outstanding statesmen and great patriots.
He prayed that “God grants her beautiful soul eternal rest and comforts the family, friends, and loved ones she has left behind.”
