Total solar eclipse: Thousands troop out to view spectacle in US cities

Residents of several cities in Mexico and the United States of America (USA) experienced the spectacle of a total solar eclipse, Monday, April 8, 2023 with thousands trooping out to view the once in a long time phenomenon through special eclipse glasses.

Many curious people travelled long distances, some from as far as Australia and Japan, to especially the Lone Star state of Texas, to be part of the thousands who gathered at parks, zoological gardens and other places of interest to celebrate the marvel of a total solar eclipse.

Some were watching to see how animals, birds and plants would react to the incredible natural phenomenon while others poured out of their homes just to be counted among the revelers who saw the day as another opportunity to make merry.

In the different cities where the eclipse watchers gathered in carnival-like settings to be part of the historic moments, excited shouts went up as the moon totally covered the sun for brief moments and moved on.

Many of the elderly watched the enthralling sight that many of them may not live to see again while children were excited to witness what they had only been reading about in books.

Overall, the excitement of those historic moments are priceless and would linger in the memories of all who witnessed the wonder of nature.
