Peter Obi pays glowing tribute to late Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai

Presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Mr. Peter Obi has paid glowing tribute to the late Evangelist and internationally celebrated Cleric, Reverend Dr. Uma Ukpai, who was given a state burial by the Abia state government, yesterday, Thursday, March 26, 2026.
Mr. Obi, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), who was present at the elaborate event held at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia, acknowledged in an X (former Twitter) post, that Rev. Ukpai was a great man of God, and that “As we bid him farewell, we do so with gratitude to God for a life well spent and for the countless seeds of faith he sowed, which will continue to bear fruit for generations to come.”
The former Governor of Anambra State, in the tribute, titled “A Life of Faith and Service: Farewell to Rev. Dr Uma Ukpai,” confirmed that the burial programme in Umuahia “was a solemn yet deeply inspiring gathering,” one that reflected the breadth of lives the Cleric touched and “the enduring legacy he leaves behind.”
Obi said further that “Rev. Dr Ukpai was not only a preacher of the Word but a living embodiment of it, marked by humility, compassion, and commitment to the service of God and humanity. His life was a testament to faith in action, as he laboured tirelessly to uplift souls, strengthen families, and guide communities along the path of righteousness.”
Many, from far and near, including religious, political and business leaders, as well as other dignitaries, turned out to bid the charismatic Evangelist who passed on to glory last year, aged 80, a befitting farewell.
